Cofresi Beach. West of Puerto Plata is a relaxing stretch of gold-spun sand that doesn't usually face the tourist assault of Playa Dorada. The waters at Cofresi are nice and calm for swimming, and there's plenty of shade (you'll have your choice of umbrella, hut or trees) to set up camp under.

For the most part, Cofresi Beach from the Point down to Ocean World is broken up with Lifestyles resorts, Cofresi Palm Resort, and the local beach which becomes over-ridden with locals Sat. and Sundays..Mostly sandy but rocky in spots...OK but, just average.
