Latest update: Summary – flood alerts have been issued by the Mekong River Commission covering the river between Nakhon Phanom and Pakse, until 4 August 2018; continued heavy rainfall has been forecast and you should be aware of the elevated risks of flooding and landslides which have already affected routes between Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang; avoid unnecessary travel in the Attapeu region following the breach of Saddle Dam D and the associated rescue and recovery efforts; follow the advice of local authorities and monitor weather forecasts
