Latest update: Summary – on 4 August 2018 there were reports of severe civil unrest, protests and violence in a number of areas in the Ethiopian Somali Regional State, including the cities of Jijiga and Dhegahbur; due to the disruption, British Embassy staff have postponed non-essential visits to the Somali Regional State and to the city of Dire Dawa until the situation is clearer; anyone in the area or planning to travel should exercise caution and take local advice
