Latest update: Summary and Safety and security section (Local travel) – there has been a recent improvement in relations between Eritrea and Ethopia, which has led to an official end to the state of war between the 2 countries; however, the border remains closed and heavily mined; the FCO advise against all travel to within 25km of Eritrea's land borders, with the exception of the towns of Senafe and Tessenei
