Colombia Travel Advisory On April 24, 2019

Summary – A nationwide general strike has been called for Thursday 25 April. Major highways may be blocked. Organised armed groups may use social protests as a chance to launch attacks on security services. You should avoid all public demonstrations and follow the advice of local security services. Disruption is likely to continue at least until 1 May.

Severe flooding and landslides have been reported in some regions, especially Cauca and Nariño. Heavy showers are expected to continue through the end of June. The Pan-American Highway is currently closed in southern Cauca due to a landslide. Pay close attention to the warnings issued by the Colombian Authorities, in particular, the Colombian Metereological Agency (IDEAM).
